A TODDLER died today after she was knocked down by a car reversing out of a driveway.
Paramedics treated the two-year-old girl at the scene of the collision in Denton, Greater Manchester, but she died later in hospital.
It is understood the motorist was a neighbour of the girl.
Police said the driver was not injured but was treated for shock at Manchester Royal Infirmary.
Traffic officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident in Palatine Mews shortly before 9am to come forward.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Police were called to Palatine Mews in Denton following a report a child had been in collision with a car, which was reversing out of a drive.
"Paramedics treated a two-year-old girl at the scene. She was taken to Tameside General Hospital where she later died.
"An investigation into the collision is underway and any witnesses should call the road policing unit on 0161 856 8473."
