Wednesday, 18 June 2008   A fugitive who was wanted for murder in the United States (US) has been apprehended.

David James Clarke, 26, was nabbed during a joint police/military operation at Hill Run, Spanish Town, St. Catherine Wednesday morning.

Mr. Clarke who was on America's 15 most wanted list' is also known as "David McDermott", "Andrew Gayle", "Biggs" and "Bigboy" of Hill Run district and 16^th Court, Lauderhill, Florida.

Reports are that on June 16 last year, Clarke shot and killed a common-law couple at 16^th Court.

The bodies were placed in the trunk of a car and taken to the city of Sunrise where the car was abandoned in a parking lot.

Clarke reportedly fled to Jamaica shortly after.

The US authorities then issued an arrest warrant for Clarke for two counts of first degree murder.

He was arrested about 5:30am Wednesday on a provisional warrant during an operation by personnel from the Organized Crime Division's Fugitive Apprehension Team, Mobile Reserve and the Jamaica Defense Force.

Clarke is expected to appear in the Corporate Area Criminal Court for an extradition hearing shortly.
