Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin remains as head of the nations Police Force. Prime Minister Bruce Golding speaking in parliament this afternoon says the Police Commissioner abandoned his plans to demit office. There were reports yesterday that the Commissioner had submitted his resignation to the Police Services Commission. All last night through this morning no government official confirmed the story. When Rear Admiral Lewin turned up at his office this morning and received a courtesy call from nominees in the Top Cop competition, it became apparent that something was changing. That function had earlier been put back and last night the Commissioner refused to respond to reporters questions about his resignation. The first official confirmation of the resignation and statement that the Commissioner had changed his mind came in parliament this afternoon.
