ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- A man in Altamonte Springs fought back and stabbed an accused home invader. It happened Tuesday night at the Park Vineridge apartment homes off SR-434. Many residents who live in the complex are concerned about how the incident happened because the say it is a quiet area. Police said the man and his wife who live in the apartment when someone knocked on the door just before 10:00 Tuesday night. The husband cracked it just enough to see who was there. Police said the 25-year-old suspect forced his way inside. But the husband grabbed a knife and stabbed the man several times. "They don't want to open the door. The husband cracks the door to tell him you have the wrong address," said Kristin Kelting of the Altamonte Springs Police Department. Crime tape stretched across the staircase of one of the buildings and detectives were inside one of the units collecting evidence. "I was on the porch, next thing you know you hear police office going 'down on the ground, down on the ground,'" said George Portela a neighbor. "I think it's pretty crazy. Neighborhood's been good, pretty decent," Portela added. "They break in my apartment and I'm there, they better have a gun." The residents of the apartment were shaken, but not hurt. The suspect was rushed to Florida Hospital Altamonte where he was trying to recover from his injuries. Police said the couple will likely not face any charges. The suspect's condition was unknown Wednesday morning.
