A DOTING dad was killed by a train as he desperately tried to retrieve a present for his son and flowers for his wife he had left on a carriage seat.

David Davies, 38, ran back to try to stop the train as it pulled out but the driver did not see him.

Last night his devastated wife Shelley said that in a moment of madness he tried to jump on to a ledge between two carriages, slipped and fell to his death beneath the train
