Girl killed herself after bullying on internet

A 14-year-old girl who was a victim of bullying over the internet has been found hanged at home.

Stephanie Burlingham, who was labelled as a "boff" by classmates because of her intelligence, was also spat at and ridiculed after teenagers at school learned she was in counselling for depression.

The Christian was found hanging from a loft ladder by her father and brother on the 2nd of February last year.

Stephanie's parents found a suicide note in a bin 18 months before her death, saying she was planning to throw herself from the roof of their house in Leeds, West Yorks.

The inquest, at Leeds coroner's court, heard how Stephanie had been bullied via text messages and on the MSN Messenger service on her home computer.

Her parents said she had also been looking at suicide websites.

Stephanie's mother, Jean, said: "She told us she had been cutting herself. She said it was because of bullying going on at school."

The inquest continues.

kids can be so cruel yow. it's up to us fi show dem that dem actions towards another person can be serious. we all have done some teasing or bullying to someone b4 so wi cant even too chastise the persons committing the act on the girl

LMFAO!!!!! people who believe suicide is the only way to solve problems is looking a easy way out. i pity her being bullied but laugh at her for committing suicide. nuff suicide a gwaan weh day ya an is ova f*kry. i laugh at suiciders. di onli people who commit suicide who mi can si wid is di idiotic man dem in di east and dats cause most o the time it wud be for religious belief or patriotism.
