NEW YORK, April 21 (UPI) -- A New York child genius who was 14 when she earned her bachelor's degree is the youngest college professor in history.
The Guinness Book of World Records formally announced that Alia Sabur is the youngest person to be a full-time professor, The New York Post reported Monday.
Sabur was 18 when she was hired Feb. 19 as faculty in the Department of Advanced Technology Fusion at Konkuk University in South Korea.
"It's really a great honor to be in the company of such great scientists," the now 19-year-old said.
Sabur is set to start physics studies and teaching next month at Konkuk, the Post reported.
"We are all very excited to welcome Alia Sabur. Alia is quite a unique individual and we are looking forward to her making great contributions at our university," Konkuk University spokesman Kim Choon-ho said.
