Two pastors in Morant Bay, St Thomas, caused laughter in the town last Thursday when they clashed with Bibles in hand over a spot where they claimed they use to spread the Gospel.
Armed with their 'swords of righteousness', the men came close to physical blows after the pastor from the Spirit of Holiness Church arrived at his regular location to carry out his roadside service, only to find the pastor from the Nazarene Gospel Assembly preaching at the spot.
The two, who are known to each other, apparently had outstanding issues and it seemed the opportune time for the clash. The preacher who arrived last quickly launched into a verbal attack on his fellow minister. The pastor who was first on the spot responded swiftly.
The men threw a tirade at each other and were apparently on the brink of a physical clash, when the situation was defused by faithful worshippers who came with both men. The worshippers parted the men who curse at each other - with their Bibles in their hands.
Many who had come for some blessing left the scene cracking up with laughter, while others found it totally out of character as both men were chided by their flock.
"Dem shoulda know betta," an observer expressed as she and other onlookers who gathered discussed the situation.
The scene was later cleared by the police who stopped at the location after seeing the massive crowd which had gathered. One of the policemen proposed that permission may have to be sought for any such gathering in the future.
