Bounty Killer, whose "Deadly Alliance"-tour has been under siege from gays in Europe, rescued his Vienna concert at the 11th hour when his booking agent found new venue, a discotheque, for his performance which had been slated for last night, April 10th.
The Vienna Green Party, in a press release, claimed that the singer was originally set to perform on Thursday at the Vienna Volksgarten, however the concert was cancelled by the venue following a public outcry over some of the singers lyrics.
The deejay found a new location for the concert, a discotheque, according to the Vienna Green Party. The Greens, which consists of Austrian left wing politicians, have been leading the vocal campaign against the deejays April 10 concert. In the meantime, the booking agent in Vienna issued a statement that "only less than 5% of Bounty Killers lyrics contain a homophobic message" and therefore they see no reason to cancel the show.
The gays have also threatened to sue Amazon.de and Amazon.com for Bounty Killers albums and albums of other Jamaican acts containing homophobic lyrics.
Bounty Killer, the leader of the Alliance in Jamaica, is known for several songs, most of which do not contain homophobic content, dancehall gems like Book Book Book, Poor People Fed Up, and Worthless Bwoy. However, he may be best known internationally for his guest vocal on No Doubt's pop-funk hit Hey Baby which hit the Billboard charts and earned him a performance at the Super Bowl.
