In a recent article carried by 876, Bass Odyssey selector and upcoming artiste Charly Blacks took a swipe at the Emperor from Portmore at the recently concluded 100 Degreez, held over the Easter holiday weekend in Ocho Rios.
According to eyewitness reports by members of the 876radio.com news team, Blacks who as on stage handling the musical selections for the acclaimed sound system was playing the "Chiney K" a popular "riddim" produced by Stephen 'di genius' McGregor, he played the Mavado followed by the Aidonia, the crowd now in a frenzy started shouting "Play the Kartel" repeatedly at which point he stopped the music and took the microphone and uttered, "Kartel diss, him arite, Alliance mi ting deh" his response was greeted with some scattered boos from the audience, but quickly died on the resumption of the music.
In an exclusive interview with 876 Blacks said he wanted to set the record straight and let it be known that he has nothing against Kartel, nor does he have any ongoing feud with the deejay.
"Kartel is a yute mi rate, mi ah artiste and him a artiste and him nuh duh mi nutten, if we see each odda we just hail and gwaan do we ting" - says Charly Blacks
"Di reason mi nuh play nuh Kartel is just directives from the management of Bass Odyssey and everybody nuh seh a dem employee mi as a selector suh if the boss seh duh play nuh Kartel den mi jus ah work wid di program ..so ah nuh diss ting" - he added.
As the conversation continued he informed us that the feud between Bass Odyssey and Kartel stems back to a World Clash episode where Kartel voiced a dub plate for them to kill one of their competitors and then he allegedly recorded the counteraction and gave it to their nemesis, which proved costly for Bass Odyssey who lost the title that year.
However these claims were denied by Kartel saying he has no idea where they got the counteraction dub and claimed they must have spliced it, but regardless the incident has cause a bitter rift and since then Bass Odyssey has disassociated themselves from the deejay.
Nb. Please note that Bass Odyssey is a different sound system from Bass Odyssey T.N.G, who is now in the process of changing their name to T.N.G which means The Next Generation.
