Musical journey of a 'Cool Ruler'

Jamaican Reggae musician, Gregory Isaacs came forth in the 1970s with lovers rock hits including "My Only Lover,""Sinner Man," and "Mr. Cop." In the same period, he released the album, "Mr. Isaacs," that featured songs such as, "Love is Overdue" and "Loving Pauper."

He signed with Virgin Records and moved on to Charisma Records in the late 1970s and material from this period gave him a wider international audience. Songs such as "Soon Forward," "If I Don't Have You" and "Let's Dance" are often re-released on compilation albums from this period.

In 1982, Gregory Isaacs signed an international release contract with Island Records, a c****ination, which resulted in the release of the albums, "Night Nurse" - probably his best known album among the many international music fans who had taken to reggae by then; and "Out Deh," in 1983.

The Island Records contract ended soon after and a number of personal issues forced Isaacs from the spotlight. In 1988 he returned triumphantly with "Rumours," that was popular with both young reggae fans and those who had followed his music since those classic songs of the 1970s. Since then his music has been released by his own African Museum Label.

Over the years, Gregory Isaacs has worked hard to keep his legendary status and reputation in the reggae business second to none. Artists Only! released "Gregory Isaacs - Live at Maritime Hall" in conjunction with 2B1 label the fall of 1998 to a great response. This all new studio album "Turn Down The Lights," produced by the legendary Lloyd "King Jammys", really brings out the essence of this veteran singer, who sounds as strong as ever with the best up-to-date musical tracks.

He is currently touring in the US, bringing his forceful sounds to thousands of fans.
