A 17-year-old girl who was wanted by law enforcement officials in the United States since April 2007 was on Wednesday held by members of the Fugitive Apprehension Team in Lititz district, Watson Hill, St Elizabeth.
The student of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is wanted by the Supreme Court of Cobb County in the state of Georgia for murder and attempted robbery. She will also be facing charges locally for breaches of the Immigration Act.
The Constabulary Communication Network's metro officer reported that at about 10:30 a.m., members of the Fugitive Apprehension Team carried out an operation in the Watson Hill area, during which the student was nabbed.
Attempted robbery
It is alleged that on April 21, 2007, the student was involved in an attempted robbery in Smyrra Cobb. A man was allegedly shot and killed during the incident. She fled to Jamaica shortly after where she had been hiding before her apprehension.
Three persons have been picked up by the Fugitive Apprehension Team since the start of the year. Nine were nabbed last year.
