Deejay Bounty Killer was in awesome form at this morning's Magnum 'Follow Di Arrow' concert lambasting his enemies and critics in a fearless performance that once again underlined his dancehall legacy.
When he hit the stage, excitement surged through the crowd like an electric current, and the smell of weed smoke seemed to grow more pervasive and stifling. One woman beside this reporter jumped up and down in glee shouting 'the man come, the man come'. Her paroxyms of joy were not unwarranted because the Killer was in a no-nonsense mood that night, charismatic and confrontational, and delightfully Machiavellian.
Dressed in white shirt and what appeared to be khaki pants, he deejayed 'Stop Killer', and even delighted the crowd by doing his awkward version of the 'gully creature'. He then bussed the place with 'Eagle and Hawk', then segued neatly into 'Benz and Bimmer'. He then paused to big up the 10th anniversary of Magnum 'Follow Di Arrow', asking the expectant crowd, 'wah the show name?'
"Follow di arrow," they screamed.
And then he deejayed a few bars from 'Follow Di Arrow' to huge forwards.
Then the Killer jumped into the Current Affairs segment of his set. He lambasted veteran journalist Ian Boyne for a recent article dissecting dancehall.
"Wha happen to battyboy Ian Boyne ah write article From Marley to Mavado, how him lef out so much bad artiste?" he asked to screams of approval.
He then commented that he had heard that homosexuals had planned to march in Kingston. He continued.
"If that gwaan, and nothing no happen, me ah pack up mi luggage and me ah go lef Jamaica," he declared.
Then he did 'Caan Believe Mi Eyes' earning the biggest forward for the ad libbed line, 'mi caan believe Kartel ah bleach out him face'.
Pleased with the response, he shouted: 'People dead" and then the haunting notes of the Bug rang out through the venue, and he deejayed snippets of 'Look into My Eyes' and the Baby Cham c****ination 'Another Level'. He then did 'Braces' and Nuh Friend Fish before declaring that he was "the best thing happen to dancehall since Buju buss'.
Later he was joined by Mavado who bussed the place with his hit tunes, and then Ninjaman who walked on but offered little in the way of entertainment. He got a few forwards when he suggested, 'mi waan see if yu can kill me'. But Killer dismissed his challenge with a two minute lyrical volley that had the entire venue rocking, and then exited the stage while Ninja plaintively asked: 'where yu going?'. Mavado left as well but returned to declare 'Shotter No Miss'.
Ninjaman declared that he wasn't saying anything until Bounty Killer returned. Mavado merely took the opportunity to do another song.
Since yu nah say nothing, mi ah the grandson," he said, before doing the first few bars of 'Amazing Grace'. The cheers were deafening. Ninjaman looked on, as Mavado showed that the war had been updated when he sang 'my war is like no other...".
Mavado closed the set with his latest hit, 'On the Rock' for which there is now a remix with rap superstar Jay Z.
Bounty Killer lashes out against Ian Boyne and Mavado dismantled veteran deejay Ninja Man at Magnum Follow Di Arrow held at James Bond Beach.
Bounty Killer was in his usual execution mood that saw the Killer lashing out on TV host Ian Boyne for an article that was recently printed in one of our local news papers. Bounty Killer disclosed that the article was directly scrutinizing the dancehall.
How di b*tty bowy Ian Boyne fi ah write article from Marley to Mavado and left out a lot of bad artiste, just those few lines have the audience screaming.
The Killer then lamented "If b*tty bowyz march inna Kingston and nothing no happen to them, me ago pack up mi luggage and lef Jamaica," he stated.
Soon after Bounty Killer did one his 90s hit songs Caan Believe Mi Eyes that had the females screaming and the men buss blank shots. But the encores got even bigger when the Killer shouted out Mi caan believe seh Kartel bleach out him face.
After hours of awesome performance by the Killer, Ninja Man then entered the stage with an umbrella hoping to get in the action but was left standing alone as Bounty Killer exited the stage.
Mavado could not resist the challenge so he went on stage and did what his daddy Bounty Killer would have done back in the early days. Even though Mavado was ready for di clash - Ninja Man decided hes not going clash until Bounty Killer returned. Mavado then shouted, mi a di grandson and mi have something fi, - Amazing grace sh*t fly through face and then went on to warned Ninja Man that My War Is Like No Other and if Ninja Man wants to continued the war, then he can find him On The Rock.
