Marlon Kirk Wizard Aka Boom Boom always knew his destiny lay with music. From the age of 5, when his Gradmother gave him the moniker Boom Boom, he and fellow Grants Pen artiste Kibaki used to imitate the Dancehall DJs they heard on the radio. At the tender age of 9 Boom Boom officially made the transition from DJ to selector when his Uncle had to run an errand and asked him to manage the Invader sound system (a well know mobile disco in Grants Pen) he owned. Boom Boom confidently grasped the microphone and started to select which records to play and as he uttered his first words, the crowd reaction left him overwhelmed. When Boom Boom reached his teens his Uncle gave him a job as a selector and he stayed with Invader sound for over a decade.
Boom Boom soon began to make a name for himself in the Kingston 8 area, tearing up Mavados first birthday party to be held on the gullyside of Cassava Piece in 1998. His outstanding performance led to him being offered a job by Y2K sound system, where he further honed his skills and got the chance to play further a field. As Boom Booms selecting status grew, next to step to the plate with an offer was Exodus 4x4, whose reputation as a clash sound made Boom Boom hesitant at first to take up the offer.
After four successful years of traveling and clashing with 4X4, Boom Boom made his own exodus from the sound and, encouraged by the likes of Bounty Killer, Mavado and Flex, went solo in July of 2007. Boom Boom, whose originality lies not only in the music he selects but in his energetic vocal introductions, currently makes regular appearances at Bembe Bembe and Early Mondays in Kingston, Stony Hills Ching Ching Tuesdays, Linsteads Gal-A Tuesdays and Grants Pens own Weh dem a Deal Wid Sundays.
