TWO youths and a young man have appeared in court today accused of badly beating a plumber after he asked them to stop urinating outside his home.


Gareth Avery, 48, from Weston-super-Mare, was left with severe head injuries after being set upon in the early hours of February 9.


Daniel Fawcett, 20, and two youths, both aged 17, appeared before Bristol Crown Court via videolink charged with wounding with intent.


Simon Hollier, prosecuting, told the court: Gareth Avery remonstrated with some persons urinating in the street in Weston-super-Mare.


He was badly beaten and suffered a broken jaw, broken cheek bones and various lacerations and bruises.


During the preliminary hearing, the three defendants spoke only to confirm their names.


Defending barristers Robert Duval, Virginia Cornwall and David Morgan, made no application for bail.


Fawcett, from Severn Avenue, Weston, and the two youths, will remain in custody and will next appear at Bristol Crown Court on June 2.
