Born Stephanie Wallace, this twenty two (22) year old singer/songwriter prefers to be called by her first name, Stephanie. Jamaican by birth, Stephanie has been following a steady musical path and has not diverted since, keeping her eyes on her ultimate dream of becoming a great singer/performer.
She has, through her schools (Pembrook Hall Primary & The Queen's School), participated in several JCDC competitions and earned her institutions great standings in these competitions. While at The Queens School she became lead singer for a promising band called Steele Force.
A regular participant at the Hilton Hotel's friday night karaoke where the existing band members scouted her to fill the spot of lead singer. Steele Force became one of the prominent cabaret bands and with her at the helm they graced north coast venues and various hot spots throughout Kingston offering live music, and for two years Steele Force was regular fixture at the Hilton Hotel on Sunday night.
That didn't seem to satisfy Stephanie as she had long yearned to produce her own music, but unfortunately her fellow band members didn't share her vision. So after taking some time off to give birth to her daughter and regrouping with a vision to change the direction of her music, Stephanie was now open to the endless possibilities and the various opportunities that would enrich her life.
The year was 2005, when a spontaneous audition landed her as a full time, paid member of The Ashe Performing Arts Ensemble and Academy. This was timely and perfect as Stephanie got a chance to hone her craft. She trained and grew in both modern and folk dancing, diverse genres of music as well as acting, specifically musical theatre.
With Ashe came a certain visibility that brought even greater opportunities to Stephanie's world, and after a one year tenure at Ashe she left to do background vocals full time, both in studio and on stage, while seeking opportunities to becoming a solo artiste in the midst.
She has worked with both local and international singers, namely Cherine Anderson, Etana, Aisha, Da'ville, Wayne Marshall, Chezidek, and Fermin Muguruza of the Basque Country. This has taken Stephanie to as far as Japan and Russia touring and recording with the European sensation Fermin Muguruza.
She sings in Spanish, French, English and the old European tongue of Basque. Stephanie is also bi-lingual and she is fluent in Spanish. Now fresh from a six months tour with her Basque counterparts and presently at The University of the West Indies doing her Degree in Sociology, Stephanie's main focus is working on her solo career.
Her style is funky, laid back at times but still with a subtly sexy edge, with influences from genres like R&B, Reggae,Jazz and Funk. Now clearly on her way, a new phase of the journey has begun. With a single out called "Man of my soul", produced by Chaka Demus and with other recordings under her belt, this young talent is set for great things. Stephanie "the sexy soul"!
