Tuesday, 22 January 2008 International dance hall artiste, Moses Beenie Man' Davis, is scheduled to return to court Tuesday January 22 on tax evasion charges.
When the case was last heard on December 10, Beenie Man's lawyers said they would hold talks with the tax authorities regarding his multi-million dollar tax debt.
The court was told that the artiste was trying to obtain documents from his former management company, Shocking Vibes, which would assist him to make a case before the Tax Department.
The attorneys told Magistrate Owen Parkin that when they received those documents, they would make arrangements to settle his debt.
Beenie Man was held after a warrant was issued for his arrest in October, after he failed to appear before the Tax Court.
The tax authorities allege that the entertainer owes the state $47-million in, $29 million of which is unpaid tax with the remaining $18 million being penalties and interest.
But Beenie Man has blamed his former management company Shocking Vibes for his dilemma.
He claims the company was responsible for paying all his taxes.
