Ever since his infamous falling out with deejay Bounty Killer, Harry Toddler has been making the rounds on the electronic media circuit talking about the incident, while simultaneously plugging his new song. CLICK HERE FOR PICTURES
He is moving to put the unsavoury incident into the dustbin of his memory.
Ah just peace and love we ah say fi the new year, ah straight promotion mi de pon, the streets dem ah feel the tune, even when mi go somewhere and people say dem say Alliance, dem still ah feel mi tune, so mi know it connect like a bottle of brandy, he said, laughing.
Down Sound Records shot a video for the single last week which will be released soon. The single is already leapfrogging up the chart, largely buoyed by the recent controversy with the Warlord. Consider the mantra he put down: friends screw you. In a strange art-imitates-life twist, that mantra played itself out in his private life with his mentor and friend Bounty Killer involved in a physical attack on him.
Asked how the streets had been responding to him since the incident, he responded: People talk about it, mi go some place and dem say ah Alliance dem a say, some people pass remarks, some people are supportive, ah just music we say.
One thing is sure though, Harry Toddler is on the verge of muscling his way back into the industry with his big, winning personality. Dont Run In is on the easygoing, laid-back Gearbox riddim by upstarts Truckback Records, and is easily one of the most popular singles in the first quarter of the year, playing right behind Erups Click My Finger at most street dances.
Toddlers peers in the industry have been very supportive of his resurgence. The entire Scare Dem Crew, Nitty Kutchie, *la*hm Dandimite, and Elephant Man, turned out for scenes in his new video shoot. Sizzla Kalonji, Macka Diamond, Nuffy and Ghandi showed up as well while Vybz Kartel sent several bottles of his new rum to add colour to the bar scene.
