Artistes, patrons celebrate with Red Rat

Birthday boy, Red Rat, was later introduced onstage by Stone Love's G-Fuss, as the Caution Band strummed up their musical notes.

Clad in a cap, a matching vest, shirt and tie, jeans and sneakers, the man of the hour made it clear that he was "not too sobre", but nevertheless, managed to "give thanks for the support".

It was Staceous who got the live performance segment started, as her revealing outfit might have caught more attention than the lyrics she uttered. Christopher Martin followed, as he represented for the ladies before Red Rat took over, singing, "last night, I woke up in a curfew."

He then made it clear that it was his birthday and so, he could do as he pleased, declaring, "I am the host of this show".

It was then that Red Rat introduced one of his friends and former Mainstreet labelmates, Hawkeye, to the stage.

But the performances were not long, more like 'one-liners' or just delivering the punchline, as there were many who turned out to show their love and support for Red Rat on his birthday.

Leftside, Danny English, Gabrielle, dancer Sadeke, Bugle, Erup, Lady G and Monster Empire (Roundhead, Ghost and General B), the latter, going tune for tune with Red Rat, as patrons enjoyed the friendly rival.

hype and vibes

After the hype and vibes that were delivered onstage, Red Rat paused before calling the next artiste to the stage.

"Unno know sey a five years now mi a keep dah ting yah, an every year mi keep it, Bounty Killa an di Alliance come represent. Suh dah next artiste yah, mi not even a guh call nuh name," Red Rat said as Mavado took the stage.

And in his usual style, thrilled a jam-packed Asylum nightclub with snippets from his musical collection before 'his dads', Bounty Killer, joined him. Needless to say, there was now pandemonium inside of the Asylum, as the Killer, although in 'party mode', still delivered a firm performance.

Flex was also 'in the complex', the Twin of Twins burnt some hot fire, as they made it clear, "Chris Martin come do him ting an him alright", before singing, "but wi nah trus nuh Rising Stars".

Overall, it was a birthday party that Red Rat must have been pleased with and in appropriate fashion, Red Rat had the last say on the mic, as he wished for unity and love in the music business before he sang his final song, Crying For The People.
