Beenie Man's normal day

For one of Jamaica's top entertainers who has managed to maintain a strong presence on the local scene for over a decade, Beenie Man would have many persons thinking that his typical day would be a very hectic one, filled with work and always on the go.

However, when THE STAR team linked up with Beenie Man at his office/studio along Mannings Hill Road last Thursday, it was much different. In fact, 'the doctor' spent most of his day with family and friends.

Hanging with dad

School was out and so his six-year-old daughter, Desha, was hanging out with her dad for the day.

She didn't speak much, but displayed much love and fondness towards her father as she sat on his leg and played in his hair.

After hanging out at his office with fellow artistes, Nittie Kutchie and Predator, Beenie Man then sped off in his brand new Mitsubishi Spider to link up with a few more of his friends at the Exodus studio on Red Hills Road.

"Every day mi deh yah suh (Exodus studio). Either wi chill out yah suh or up a Gary Exodus house, or up a my studio a 357," Beenie said as he spoke with artistes Guidance, Action K, Blacktalant and others.

Recalling his experience at a recently held Weddy Weddy Wednesday session, Beenie said he only spoke his mind, as he was in disagreement about their selection of the deejay of the year at Stone Love anniversary.

"How must you give Mavado deejay of di year? Mi ask who get singer a di year, dem sey Tarrus Riley. Suh mi sey a two singer get awarded," Beenie argued.

During the conversation, Beenie's daughter interrupted, reminding her father that he was supposed to drop her at school for practice and that they were to attend a surprise birthday party for Courtney Walsh's daughter later on.

Out of time

With that said, 'the doctor' wrapped up his conversation as time was now against him.

But in explaining to THE STAR his typical day, Beenie says his days are rather boring.

"From mi lef mi yard, guh a studio, buy some food, a jus my day dat. Other than that, pon di weekends mi deh a work," Beenie said.

Next stop Beenie said, was to "take my grandmother to visit the eye doctor, pick up Moses (his son) and carry him to football training and carry mi daughter guh netball training."

But pretty much, Beenie says, "a jus straight family mi deal wid throughout di day and work."
