It is now a known fact that the results of a paternity test done by Moses 'Beenie Man' Davis to determine whether or not he is the biological father of Marco Dean, his child with estranged wife Michelle 'D'Angel' Downer, are out.
According to a source close to the couple, the results of the DNA test was ready since last week, and while D'Angel might have been privy to the results at that time, Beenie Man, who was said to be off the island at the time might have heard the news some time later.
The source also indicated that the test found Beenie Man to be the biological father of Marco Dean.
When contacted, D'Angel told THE STAR, "The matter is in court, so I cannot make any comments about it."
Accuser's job
However, D'Angel suggested that although they knew the results to the DNA test, it was not her place to reveal it to the world, as it was Beenie Man who brought up the matter of wanting to do a DNA test in the first place.
"Beenie Man, instead came to court in September and told the court that he was not sure that Marco Dean was his child, and therefore he wanted a DNA test done. In court, he objected to paying any maintenance for Marco Dean, which was being asked for by me, and the judge was lenient to order an interim payment until the DNA test was done to prove otherwise," D'Angel was quoted as saying in a recent press release.
Beenie Man could not be reached for comment despite repeated attempts by The STAR since Wednesday. However, Beenie's publicist, Ray Alexander, explained why his client could not comment.
"The result was picked up today (Thursday), but the lawyer advised us that we cannot disclose it, because it was a sealed envelop and the matter will be heard sometime next year. We were warned not to disclose the results or we would be in violation of a court order and could be fined or imprisoned. So we cannot disclose the results or comment further on the matter," Alexander told THE STAR.
There is still an ongoing court case over the matter of child support, which D'Angel is requesting that Beenie Man pay. D'Angel, in a recent release said, "Beenie Man made no attempt to call to enquire about the welfare of his son, nor did he provide any maintenance for Marco Dean from he left the matrimonial home in April 2007, until he was ordered by the court in September to start making interim payments."
The interim payments were to be made until the child's paternity was confirmed. The judge had ordered Beenie Man to pay about $30,000 per month. It is expected that now that Marco Dean's paternity is confirmed the payments will increase.
