Despite a late start, the inaugural staging of the Jamaica Observer Teenage Teen Choice Awards took place on Friday October 26 at the Talk of the Town at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.

Munga Honorable and Macka Diamond were the nights big winners. Munga won for Male Artiste of the year while Macka won Female Artiste of the year and Best Dressed Female Artiste.

Producer Donovan Don Corleon Bennett won for Producer of the year, while Alaine won for Vocalist of the Year. Both were noticeably absent from the awards show.

Other winners included Etana for Best Cultural Artiste; Busy Signal copped the 'Sell off' tune of the year for the song Jail which was voted Sell off Tune of the year; gospel artiste Keron Ennis for the Mothers Gospel Artiste of the year award; Mavado for Don DJ of the year; a surprising win came for Bugle who won the ZIP 103 Best new Artiste trophy. Many in the crowd stared in disbelief when his name was announced as winner in a category that included Munga, Christopher Martin and Timberlee.

Vybz Kartel was named Best Dancehall Lyricist; Voice Mail copped the Best Dressed Male Artiste trophy; and Sample Six won the Best Dancer trophy.

Hot Male Model went to Khalil Marks who came on stage to accept his award with a toothpick in his mouth; Saint Internationals Sosheba Griffiths won the Hot Female Model title; and co-host of the event Nikki Z won Favorite Media Personality.

Top Champs Athlete Female went to Neisha DaCosta from Immaculate Conception High; while Romane McKenzie from Calabar won Top Champs Male Athlete.

The Teenage Style Store award went to Cooyah Roots Wear, while Best Place without a Number One went to Little Ochi Seafood Restaurant in St. Elizabeth.

TGIF was voted Favorite Hangout Spot, while Top Fast Food Item went to KFCs Zinger sandwich.

Asafa Powell got the Digicel Top Sports Personality trophy.

The Awards show was hosted by ZIP 103 FMs Nikki Z and RETVs Stephen Supa Hype Davis.
