Angry fist-fights and name-calling broke out between Jamaican entertainers and males attending a black male gay convention in Miami last weekend at the Radisson hotel in Biscayne, Florida.
The entertainers, who all performed at the annual 'Best of the Best' reggae show at the Miami Bicentennial Park in South Florida were apparently booked at the same hotel as over 200 plus black gay men.
"There was a lot of tension at the hotel for the whole weekend, especially in the elevators where the gay men held hands or cuddled while the entertainers looked on," one person told said
"The tension was palpable, there were a lot of verbal insults and name calling, and in the elevators, you could hear them shouting 'get out' at each other, and I heard that there was fight but I never saw it and I don't know if it was the tension with the gays that started it...all the entertainers were booked to stay at the Radisson so it was very very tense."
When reporters tried contacting the hotel, the receptionist said she didnt work that weekend and the manager who would be the ideal person to comment was out for lunch.
Some of the entertainers peforming at the 'Best of the Best' show include Bounty Killer, Capleton, Tony Matterhorn, Buju Banton, Elephant Man and Shaggy. Thousands of person often converge on Miami for the Memorial Day weekend which officially marks the beginning of summer, heralding in the summer holiday celebrations.
