‘Flava’, head of No Doubt Records, has filed a report that he has been threatened by Vernal ‘Lyfe’ Newman, chief executive officer of Real Lyfe Production, over his planned release of a Gyptian album.
“The man come up here with several other man and threaten me in front of Dean Fraser and the whole ah dem, ‘bout say me caan release no Gyptian album when me and Gyptian already have an understanding,” he said.
One876Entertainment.com confirmed that the threat had been reported to the Matilda’s Corner police station in St. Andrew.
When contacted, Mr. Newman denied the allegations but admitted that he had spoken to ‘Flava’ at his Wellington Drive studio.
“Mi neva even have a heated argument with this man, so this is surprising, it’s like he’s trying to ruin my reputation, that is why I have contacted my lawyer about this.”
Mr. Newman suggested that the reasons behind the allegations stemmed from Flava’s frustrations over a collapsed album deal with VP Records.
“Apparently, he thought he had a contract with VP to do a Gyptian album, and he must have tried to call them but they were not talking to him, so this must be his way to get some publicity because he has no money to push the project forward, but I cannot allow him to piggyback on Real Lyfe thing, that cannot happen.”
