Patrick 'Curly Lox' Gaynor is today mourning the death of his six-year-old son, Zion who died on the weekend.
However, Patrick is even more bereaved that he will have to await an autopsy report to determine exactly when and how his son died. Zion was in the care of his mother.
"Right now my lord, words cyan describe dah grief yah, cause is not like him neva wake up from him sleep or sum'n like dat, although death a still death, but mi really disappointed. None a di story weh di stepfather a tell nuh consistent, him tell bout four different story, bout Ptomaine poisoning an all sort a ting, but based on what I saw and what I observed bout my yout, he was beaten to death, him teeth lick out and di whole a him face buss up," Patrick said.
He also added, "Him nuh guh school Thursday-Saturday night mi hear seh him dead an a Sunday morning mi guh look pon him, mi sweet likkle son dead."
"All dat we do is for di children," he said.
Patrick says, "dat a mi whole reason for living, a him why wi a try suh hard inna di business. All when wi a guh tru dem bag a ting, like wid Beenie a try get wi off a show, a nuh toss up wi waan inna, a di pickney dem food wi a look, suh wi defend wi food inna music by any means. Right now Tu-Lox (Paul) cyan even talk."
Undoubtedly, the Twins' loss will sooner than later be reflected lyrically, as they are known to put pen to paper on real life issues.
However, this one might not be so humourous. "Some tings mi cyan seh yah now, but my music wi always reflect how mi feel bout mi yout but mi know seh him gone to a better place. Gone him gone, yuh nuh," Patrick said.
The officer in charge of crime for the division (St. Catherine North), Deputy Superintendent Meveral Smith confirmed investigations into the death of the child.
"A report was made today (yesterday) on the incident...investigations are being done, but we are awaiting the result of the post-mortem on the child, which will be done on Thursday," he said.
In the meantime, The Twin of Twins have put everything on hold. "Wi fi guh all a Harvard di 18th a dis month an wi did have couple show a Canada, but every ting jus deh pon hold," Patrick said. "Wi new album, Volume 7 release already, suh wi jus haffi push on."
Patrick also wanted to make an appeal to fans and parents to keep the peace. "Wi a appeal to all a di fans dem weh a mek some talk, jus refrain an mek di police do dem work. An wi a appeal to the mothers out there, nuh put nuh man over dem yout. An' to the fathers, always put yuh yout first," he said.
