Will Smith revealed to Us Weekly and other reporters at the Focus premiere in Hollywood on Tuesday, Feb. 24, that his high-profile marriage to Jada Pinkett Smith has experienced its fair share of bumps. PHOTOS: The weird and wacky Smith family The actor, 46, was asked how he divvies up his time between work and his own personal life. "Now that's really interesting," the Independence Day actor noted. "Jada and I have struggled with that a little bit.. The problem is one person is in work mode while the other person is in chill mode. Then it's like you're both trying to come up." Smith said it's a natural struggle for ambitious couples in Hollywood, notably his own. (His wife is currently starring in her Fox series Gotham, and he's working on several big projects as well.) "It is really something that will happen in time," the Fresh Prince star told Us. "And you'll realize that you're either really committed to having a relationship, or you're really committed to coming up. At some point one or the other is going to have to suffer While the Smiths have struggled in that regard, the couple walked the red carpet on Tuesday, kissing each other and turning up the PDA. An eyewitness tells Us that Pinkett Smith "glowed" as her husband leaned down to kiss her. "They looked at each other and smiled," the observer adds, saying the couple "complemented each other well.
