DEFENDING champion, Jamaica's Melaine Walker, failed to regain her women's 400 metres hurdles crown, taking silver behind Lashinda Demus of the United States at the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, South Korea today.
Fellow Jamaican Kaliese Spencer, the event's fastest woman in the world this year, finished outside the medals in fourth place.
Running from lane 8, Walker's time of 52.73 seconds was her season's best but was not enough to overhaul the world leading time of 52.47 by Demus.
Natalya Antyukh of Russia recorded 53.85, ahead of Spencer in 54.01.
