Former Portmore Empire member & singjay, JahVinci has officially been booked to perform at Reggae Sumfest 2011 in Montego Bay. The "Watch Yuh Frenz" singer joins the likes of Beenie Man, I-Octane, Mavado, Tanya Stephens & Jah Cure as local Dancehall-Reggae acts who will grace the festival's stage during the weekend of July 21-23.
JahVinci expressed his joy at receiving this opportunity; intimating in a press release, "I am extremely excited to be included in this year's impressive Reggae Sumfest line-up because this festival is certainly the biggest platform in the Caribbean for a reggae artiste to showcase his craft and this will be my first opportunity to work a complete set as a solo act, and I will not disappoint my fans."
This latest news continues a good run for JahVinci since announcing his departure from Vybz Kartel's Portmore Empire at the end of May. Since severing ties with "Di Teacha," JahVinci has collaborated with former Empire producer, Notnice along with former Kartel business associate, Corey Todd to release a slew of new singles. "Wah My Money," "Oh Why," Love You," & "In My Life," which reflects on the reasoning behind leaving the "Gaza" camp are some of the singles JahVinci has released over the last month.
As for future projects, a video for "In My Life" will soon be unveiled & JahVinci will also be collaborating with producers such as Sly Dunbar (one half of Sly & Robbie) of Taxi Records & Donovan Germaine of Penthouse Records. "Anything is possible because mi free but mi a gwaan focus pon my work and build my career, I am looking forward to recording some great songs for major producers like Sly Dunbar and Donovan Germaine who have contributed a lot to reggae music," Jahvinci said.
Following Reggae Sumfest, JahVinci will travel to England for three shows in August and is booked for shows regionally in St. Vincent, Barbados & Dominica later this year. The singjay also claims that he's received interest from promoters in Africa & Japan for future shows. "Promoters as far away as Japan and Africa have also expressed interest in my career. During the next couple of months, I will be organizing my own band so that I can have an explosive set when I go on tour, I want to entertain the fans and have a long, fulfilling career in reggae music," JahVinci implied.
