Cops probe woman's involvement in lottery scam
The Organised Crime Investigation Division (OCID) is investigating whether or not a woman who was held with a book containing more than 1,400 names and addresses is a part of the lottery scam.

The discovery was made during an operation in the Bog Walk area of St Catherine.

Reports are that members of OCID were on operation in the Bowers Wood community near Bog Walk. Upon entering a premises, the female was seen trying to hide a book between her thighs. She was searched and the names were found properly typed. In addition to the names, the addresses, telephone numbers and what to say to the victims were written in the book.

Several cellphones were also taken from the female.

She has been taken into custody and is to be interviewed by the police.

Meanwhile, it was revealed that with pressure on the lottery scam in the western region of the island, persons have been filtering into other parishes.

A senior investigator told THE STAR that the scammers ensnared their victims by convincing them that they won the lottery.

They are given more information, but told to pay fees which amount to thousands of dollars to get their winnings which never materialise.
