Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne has become the victim of another leak as the artwork for his forthcoming Tha Carter IV album is now available to view online.
Drawing close comparisons to 2008's Carter III, Wayne is displayed wearing a graduation gown on the album cover. Despite the album being pushed to June 14th, the official album artwork for the Young Money CEO Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV LP has hit the interwebs and has the net talking. Following on from the tatted up baby picture used for Tha Carter III, this installment of Tha Carter series features a slightly older version of young Weezy with his trademark tattoos added. Go Weezy. (Soul Culture)
Last week, an alleged Carter IV tracklisting hit the Internet. An unofficial tracklist for one of the most, if not the most, anticipated hip-hop albums of 2011 landed on the internet this week. Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV is scheduled for a May 16 release date, and on Thursday, Complex.com released what is a rumored album tracklisting for the Cash Money/Young Money superstar's upcoming project. The tracklist reveals Jay-Z, Eminem, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Birdman, Gucci Mane, Rick Ross, Swizz Beatz, Kanye West, Game and more as speculated contributors. (Hip Hop Wired)
Following the leak, the solo effort was pushed back to mid-June. Sigh. Surprise, surprise. Lil Wayne has pushed back the release of Tha Carter IV from May 16 to an unspecified date in June. At least, that's what has been reported by Matt at Rap Dose, who spoke with a producer who's close to Weezy. No reason has been given as to why it's been delayed (AGAIN), but it apparently has nothing to do with the rumored track list that leaked earlier this week. Let's hope everything gets clarified soon and, you know, we can actual release date. Maybe after we hear another single? (Prefix Mag)
Prior to the pushback, Wayne revealed his anticipation to put out his album next month. "Tha Carter IV is done," Wayne told MTV News. "All they need to do is tell Tez [manager Cortez Bryant] to stop sitting on it. Tez, stop sitting on Tha Carter IV and put the album out." Bryant, Weezy's longtime manager, was in attendance and provided the specific release date. "May 16, believe that," Wayne said. "It can come out tomorrow 'cause I'm so finished ... Tha Carter IV will be dropping May 16. If you're not doing anything, do me," he added. (
