Isiah Laing, promoter of the annual STING stage show, was interviewed earlier this evening on Nationwide 90 FM radio station, and he had a lot to say about the fact that dancehalls two leading artistes Mavado and Vybz Kartel would not be performing at this years STING. Amidst persistent speculation that STING will flop without the Gully Gaad and the Dancehall Hero, Laing proceeded to lash out against the two artistes, stating that in any case he was taking a stand for Jamaicas music, because these two guys are leading Jamaica astray.
He pointed out that Vybz Kartels Hott Grabba song [iTunes] was one such example of them leading Jamaica astray, stating that children in high school were singing that song which is specifically about ganja (marijuana). Laing went on to state that the appearance fees being demanded by both artistes was ridiculous and out of the shows reach, alleging that Vybz Kartel wanted over J$4 million and that Mavado wanted over J$3 million.
Almost as though he was trying to tempt Vybz Kartel and Mavado into a war of words with him, Laing continually referred to them as those guys, and compared the two to Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, implying that there was really no comparison, adding that when Bounty Killer and Beenie Man had their legendary clash in 1993, it pulled a far bigger crowd than in 2008 when Mavado and Vybz Kartel had their own legendary clash. He stated that since Beenie Man and Bounty Killer have declared unity and even shared the stage for a full performance at the 2010 Arthur Guinness Jamaica Celebration, Mavado and Vybz Kartel have literally been running scared of the show-stopping power of the two dancehall veterans.
In closing, Laing said that Sting does not need Mavado and Vybz Kartel, as the whole host of artistes on this years line-up will still guarantee a full-house for Sting 2010. Whats your take?

it is interesting to me to see how many ppl commented that sting will fail without gaza and gully......sting, like any other stage show is about artistes, performances and music....what laing is saying is that fueling the gaza/gully bull%&%* will not further dancehall music in any way.....i agree and support his stance on that....i would much rather go see a show with buju, ninja, supercat, shabba, stitchie and papa for the entire night than watch movado or kartel for 10 mins......i know most of you on zone are a bunch of f**kin idiots who do nothing but follow the hype when it comes to music and have no f**kin clue as to what legacy means, but let me explain...it means that the music you do will live on forever in ppl hearts and minds.....neither movado nor kartel will ever be living legends of dancehall the way bounty, beenie or buju are living legends....
