Two illegal firearms were recovered yesterday following a car chase which began along Perkins Boulevard in St Andrew.

Reports are that about 5:30 p.m., a team including members of the Contraband Enforcement Team and the Trans-National Crime Narcotics Division were travelling on their way to conduct an operation.

While driving along Perkins Boulevard, it is said that the occupants of a white Toyota Corolla were seen acting suspiciously.

The driver of the Corolla reportedly sped off and the police gave chase.

With the police close behind, the occupants in the Corolla are alleged to have thrown a brown paper bag through the window and the police stopped to retrieve it.

It is said that two .45 pistols with two rounds of ammunition were found in the bag.

Investigations continue.
