Promoters of Skintasy Chic, a 'wet and wild' beach party scheduled for this Sunday, July 25, at Boardwalk in Hellshire beside Waves Beach, are telling patrons that they will get a party like no other.
Promoter, Kelly Lawrence, of 5 Star Entertainment, told THE STAR: "The theme of the party is a 'Negril beach party in Kingston'. What we are basically trying to do is to give patrons a Negril-like weekend at one venue, which would explain why we're having a foam pit, water slide and the mysterious liquor maze."
The party starts from 2 p.m. and goes until 2 a.m., with ZJ Wah Wa thumping music from Coppershot sound system. Tickets are $1,200 pre-sold, and $1,500, at the gate, ladies are free before 4 p.m.
Lawrence, 22, is a regular patron at some of the biggest parties in the Corporate Area and on the north and south coast, and now she is trying her hand at promotion.
"I think it's fair to say I love to party, and because of my love for parties and planning events I decided to give patrons a party with a difference. A lot of parties these days lack innovation and have become cliché, so what I am basically trying to do is to give patrons something eclectic. We have approached a few sponsors and have gotten an impressive feedback from them. Our sponsors include Creepa rum punch, Rumbar rum and Dixon's catering," said Lawrence.
There will be five bars at the event, including a fantasy bar which features various special mixes such as apple martini, sex on the beach, an exclusive drink called 'Skintasy', among others. One of the bars will be a Creepa bar from Creepa Jamaican rum punch, and one will be a premium bar where patrons can purchase beers and other alcoholic beverages.
"To create a difference, we have also included a shots bar for those who like to take shots such as tequila shots and jello shots," Lawrence said. "Due to the fact that we will be having all these bars, we have taken the initiative to create a detox bar to ensure the safety of our patrons," the promoter pointed out.
She added: "This is my first time in promoting a show and I think every promoter will agree its an immense amount of work, but with strength and vigour you can make it happen. This is my first but will not be the last because a lot of promoters want to work with me, even a few from overseas. The future looks great!"
