The teacher from a St Thomas high school, who was being sought by police for allegedly fondling a female student, has finally been held.

He is Dalson Gilroy, 36, of Knightsville district, St Thomas.

The St Thomas police told THE STAR that Dalson was held at an address in Kingston on Saturday.

"The suspect was charged yesterday, (Monday) after he was held by police in the Corporate Area," an investigator told THE STAR.

It was revealed that the teacher, who was quite elusive since the incident was reported on March 30, was gainfully employed when he was held.

"He was working at the Port-more HEART Academy when he was held, " a senior policeman told THE STAR.

Gilroy, who is also known as 'Gladdy' or 'Soljie', is booked to appear in the Yallahs Resident Magistrate's Court today.

The offence was reportedly committed last March. A week later, he reportedly fled St Thomas.
