Twenty-nine-year-old Kenneth Parchment* is now homeless, after he was beaten and chased from his community because rumours were being circulated that he is gay.
The man, who shared a house with his sister and her children in St Catherine, has been living on the streets for more than a month, unable to find somewhere else to go.
"Di man dem from di community attack mi and sey mi must leave and don't come back because dem sey mi gay" said Parchment.
Parchment's sister told THE WEEKEND STAR that she worries about him day and night and has been unable to contact him regularly since he left the house. She said her brother has been beaten by the men on several occasions and they are planning to kill him if he comes back.
"Mi tell him to stay away and don't travel on the street late at nights because dem a plan fi kill him" said the worried woman.
Residents from the community also shared the same story indicating that Parchment was chased from the area by men who believed he was gay.
"Because him dress neat and go weh and come back a night time, and because im nuh mix up, mix up wid di man dem from di area, dem have it sey him gay ... None a dem neva si him wid nuh man a do nuthing suh dem cyaan sey him gay, sometime mi affi beg dem fi nuh beat im," said Sookie.
Sookie among others, told THE WEEKEND STAR that Parchment has been badly beaten by men including his 16-year-old nephew.
"Please sir, do anything yuh can duh fi help him. Please help him cause he is a nice person," said another resident, Jadewho was almost in tears as she related the story.
"Di yute dem nuh stop beat him with board, stone and baton, dem all *lo** him up, di way dem beat him up ... all him likkle nephew weh a knock head wid di man dem from di area a beat him," she lamented.
Sally, another resident told THE WEEKEND STAR that "di man dem tell him sister sey dem nuh want him round here" resulting in his departure.
Parchment who spent his youth at a shelter told THE WEEKEND STAR that he does not have an educational background neither does he possess a skill or trade.
Despite lacking these necessary requirements, Parchment indicated that he is seeking the public's assistance in acquiring a job or anything that can aid in his development.
