It is being reported that reggae and dancehall superstar Lincoln Sugar Minott passed away. He was 54 years of age. His brand new album was scheduled to be released a few days from now, on the 21st of July 2010. Although the cause of death is yet unknown, Sugar Minott had been suffering from a severe heart condition called Angina Pectoris.

The Jamaican Reggae star Sugar Minott entered the mainstream music industry back in 1969 when he joined the African brothers. His band released many hit singles in the 1970s. In 1974 Sugar Minott and his band decided to join producer Rupie Edwards and came up with their hit song Mysterious Nature. They went on to join another production house called Studio One and give other hit songs like No Cup No Broke.

Sugar Minott and his band then decided to go their separate ways and Sugar Minott then joined other production companies and continued to do some highly influential work till he died. He worked as a singer and a guitarist and recorded many singles with Clement Dodd. His ability to write new songs and create novel rhythms earned him great recognition. Among his most notable songs are Mr. DC, Vanity, Jah Jah Children and Rub-a-Dub Sound.

His work gained worldwide recognition and received rave reviews. He also toured various parts of the globe. His performances were received with admiration and love by all his fans all across the world. To date he recorded more than sixty albums. He also served as a music producer. His famed song Rub-a-Dub Sound became known as the catalyst for the ragga style and inspired generations to come.
