A 61-year-old woman was sentenced to three months in prison yesterday after she pleaded guilty to ganja-related charges when she appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
The accused, Rachel Brooks, of a Corporate Area address, pleaded guilty to possession of and dealing in ganja.
The court was informed that Brooks sold ganja to persons, including children from her home.
Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey offered Brooks the opportunity to provide a valid explanation for her actions but she was unable to provide a satisfactory answer. RM Pusey then warned Brooks that "you are a big woman and I'm sending you away for it".
Brooks was sentenced to three months' imprisonment to run concurrently on each charge, so she will only serve three months for both offences.
