Two men who were seen extorting money from vendors on Princess Street, downtown Kingston on Saturday were arrested. A bag with a quantity of cash and a book with names of vendors were seized by the lawmen.
Police said about 11 a.m., the men, whose identities are being withheld pending further investigations, were picked up by police officers assigned to the Tivoli Gardens police post. The men were seen by the lawmen demanding money from vendors and cross referencing their names in a book.
Detectives from the Organised Crime Investigation Division, who are investigating, will be charging the men with the offence of demanding money by menace.
