More than 700 rounds of ammunition and an illegal 9mm pistol were seized by the police in separate operations in Alligator Pond, Manchester and Spanish Town Road in Kingston yesterday.
Reports are that about 2 a.m., the lawmen conducted a special operation in the Alligator Pond community. During the operation, a white 1997 Honda Civic motor car with two men aboard was searched and the pistol along with a magazine containing fifteen 9mm rounds was discovered. The men were subsequently arrested and charged.
Detectives at the Asia Police Station are investigating.
In the second incident, detectives from the Flying Squad conducted a special operation between 4:30 and 6:30 a.m. It involved the search of an abandoned service station along Weymouth Drive in the vicinity of Spanish Town Road.
This search yielded 700 assorted rounds of ammunition. These included a .38 cartridge, six .380, twenty-five 7.62, twenty-six 12 gauge, forty-four 20 gauge and five hundred and ninety eight .22 rounds.
No one was arrested in connection with this seizure. Investigations continue.
