A large contingent of police and soldiers are now conducting a major operation in the West Kingston community of Fletchers Land.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Bureau Assistant Commissioner Les Green, told the Observer that the security forces will be maintaining a constant presence in the community which is known to have links to the former stronghold of Tivoli Gardens.
"We will be maintaining a presence as we have done on the other operation. We know that a lot of people ran away from Tivoli into Fletchers land," Green told the Observer.
On May 24 police and soldiers launched a major offensive on gunmen who had barricaded themselves inside Tivoli Gardens and took up arms in defense of most wanted fugitive, Christopher 'Dudus' Coke.
The police were met with stiff resistance when they attempted to enter the area to serve an arrest warrant on Coke. The security forces managed to repel the resistance and have occupied the embattled community since.
The security forces have also staged curfews in other sections of West Kingston and South St Andrew as they move to dismantle garrison and break the stranglehold that criminals have on the nation
