ONE hundred and fifty six men have been taken into custody following the imposition of a new curfew in sections of downtown Kingston and St Andrew from 2:00 am today.
The men are being processed and interviewed by detectives. The police report that they have so far only been able to seize a number of imitation firearms.
The curfew runs until 2:00 am on Saturday. Its boundaries are as follows:
North along Penn Street and Baker Street.
South along Seventh Street, Asquith Street and Studley Park Road.
East along Slipe Pen Road between Studley Park Road and Baker Street.
West along Collie Smith Drive between Seventh Street and Penn Street using an imaginary line.
During the hours of the curfew all persons within the boundaries are required to remain within their premises unless otherwise authorised in writing by the member of the security forces who is in charge of enforcing the curfew.
