The Old Harbour police in St Catherine are searching for a pastor who is accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl who went to him for counselling.
The police told THE STAR that in early April, the child was referred to the clergyman.
She reportedly went to the church where the pastor operated.
The police claim that when she was there she was lured inside a bathroom, where she was sexually molested.
The child is said to have related her ordeal to some of her relatives who reported the matter to the police. An investigation was launched into the matter.
So far the police claim that their search for the man of God has turned up empty. It is said that the accused man has left the church and has not been seen for sometime.
Police told THE STAR that while their investigation revealed the pastor's absence, they have not been able to ascertain if it were as a result of the incident why he left the church.
In the meantime, the child is still undergoing counselling as a result of the alleged incident.
