Low numbers , high energy at Yesterdays

Ready to party!

Usually attracting a large crowd, Yesterdays, held at the Mas Camp Village, saw less than the usual number of patrons last Saturday night.

One of the signature '90s parties, the drink-inclusive party rocked with music from ZJ Ice, DJ Denvo and Nicco Supreme. When The STAR team arrived at the venue before midnight there were a few groups of people inside and around the bar. As the night progressed more persons came but still left a large area in the centre where a few women were dancing to the 'bruk out' music in the early morning.

Even though the crowd support was lacking the vibe and energy of the patrons were high as they danced, formed a soca train and jumped around to the command of the DJs. A number of patrons sported their high-school uniforms looking young and fresh but doing the moves from 'back in the day' such as the 'hammer'. DJ Denvo kept a steady flow of music in the early segment until ZJ Ice shook up the venue with a little hip-hop music from the Fugees, Blackstreet and had persons doing the 'macarena'. He soon teased with a number of dancehall oldies such as Coca Cola Bottle Shape among others.

Nicco Supreme had everyone singing along to the theme song of the 'Fresh Prince of Bel Air' before introducing some Buju Banton songs, Sanchez and Beres Hammond's Tempted to Touch. He then went into an energetic soca segment as persons formed a soca train, did the 'dollar wine' and stomped around. Lovers were rocking to the slow segment and giving an energetic wine when the pace sped back up. Those without partners stood their ground and wined while others were content to sing along.

After 3 a.m., DJs Denvo and Ice returned with Bounty, Beenie Man and Lady Saw hits. Soon after, people began leaving while others stayed on till after 4 a.m. as the party wound down.
