Police investigators say there are "serious gaps" in the initialaccount of how five-year-old Evan Sebastian Spencer - found with his throat slashed in Clarendon too Sundays ago - was found.

According to one investigator, this is based on new information, which casts doubt on the involvement of a second person.

The May Pen police reported that about 2:30 a.m. the five-year-old was alone at home in Frankfield, Clarendon, when a man known to his father was seen running from the house. When the house was checked, the youngster was found with his throat cut.

Investigators would not discuss this new development, but said it was the main reason no arrest had been made in a case that shocked the nation.

A person close to the case said Spencer's father would be interrogated a second time in the presence of his attorney.

"What we are doing now is tying up some loose ends. When we are finished, it is very likely that someone will be charged," an investigator told The Gleaner.

The five-year-old's father and the other man have been in custody since the killing.
