It seems the men who have broken into two bars recently in Moneague, St Ann, have developed a new mode of operation - rob and then defecate.
THE WEEKEND STAR has learnt that on at least two recent occasions thieves have broken into bars and stolen portions of liquor.
To add insult to injury, the bartenders have been greeted not only with a diminished stock, but also with a pile of faeces when they turned up for work the following day.
Checks by THE WEEKEND STAR found that word of the 'filthy' robbers have caught the ears of residents and a number of police personnel from the St Ann division.
"Yes, that's what I've been hearing ... At first I thought it was a joke, but I spoke with someone from the Moneague station last week and they said it was a true thing," a constable at the the Steer Town Police Station, also in the parish, said.
latest case
The latest case is said to have occurred last week at a popular bar in the community.
When THE WEEKEND STAR spoke to an inspector at the Moneague Police Station, he said that he was aware of two recent break-ins, but said that he did not know of the thieves subsequent filthy actions, citing he was new to the area. "I'm not saying it did not happen but I have only been here two weeks ... I know of two break-ins though," he said.
A corporal with whom THE WEEKEND STAR later spoke, however, said he too had heard of the situation although such information was not recorded in the crime diary.
"I personally did not see it but I have spoken with persons who went to the bar last week and saw it ... It's bad enough they're robbing the people but to do that to the people's property is just plain nasty," the corporal reasoned.
