Five in custody, three illegal guns seized

Five people are now in police custody after 3 illegal firearms were seized in St. Catherine and St. Ann yesterday.

Their identities have been with withheld pending further investigations.

The police say around 8 a.m., a silver Smith and Wesson .38 revolver was handed over to the police at Happy Mews, Alexandria, St. Ann.

No one was arrested.

About three hours later in St. Catherine, a Remington shotgun and two 12-gauge cartridges were found at a premises at Wallen Lane in Portmore.

Four persons were arrested in connection with that find.

A man was also arrested around 4.30 p.m. yesterday, after he was found with a chrome Smith and Wesson pistol at Bell Heights, Gordon Pen, also in St. Catherine.
