A man accused of assaulting his girlfriend during an argument about overnight food that was to be shared between them, was taken before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.
Kevin Mitchell, a 26-year-old chef from Kintyre, St Andrew, pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm and malicious destruction of property.
The court was told that on April 22, about 10:15 a.m., the accused and the complainant had an argument about overnight food. It is alleged that during the argument, the accused punched the complainant in the head, used a scissors to hit her on the head and reportedly threw a pan full of coins at her.
It is also alleged that the accused destroyed several items inside the house.
When the matter was mentioned in court, Mitchell denied the allegations. Both he and the complainant, however, agreed to receive counselling from the Dispute Resolution Foundation.
They are to return to court on June 3. The accused man's bail was extended.
