The US embassy in Kingston located Old Hope Road, Jamaica, is desperately trying to create a more customer-friendly image. They are said to be unfriendly with applicants of nonimmigrant visa and is only interested in collecting the non refundable application fee.

The visa application fee of $131 U.S. dollars and must be paid (in Jamaican dollars at the exchange rate set by the U.S. Embassy) for the nonimmigrant visa interview before they begin to speak with you. Let's do the math 110, 000 * 131 = $14,410,000 US dollars.

The US Embassy is collecting over 14 Million dollars per year from poor Jamaican's and is declining majority of the applicants rumored to be about 95% denial rate.

US officials have steered clear of providing specific figures on the number of visa applications that have been approved out of the 110,000 persons who applied last year.

Its also the belief that Jamaica's reluctance to hand over alleged crime boss Christopher "Dudus" Coke is straining relations with Jamaica and the United States. People are starting to believe the USA is retaliating against Jamaica by revoking allot of work visa, nonimmigrant visa and even green cards.

Many Jamaican's are now deciding not to apply for visa at this time, Prompting a decline US Embassy receiving nonimmigrant visa application fee. The US Embassy made a release last week that they will be making some changes to improve the Embassy's image.

To start with, the Embassy two weeks ago established a refreshment stand at the spillover waiting area, In-addition, Slated for construction this year is the long-asked-for shelter on the outside of the embassy where visa applicants are currently forced to endure the boiling sun in long lines. The embassy will also be installing acoustic dampening material in the waiting area where interviews are done to ensure a higher level of privacy
