Appleton May Daze returns next month for five Fridays with a new theme and a new home.
Having moved from Akbar in New Kingston to the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre off Hope Road, May Daze is set to bring an even better party series to its patrons.
Promoters Dwayne Harris and Stephen Willie both say that while they have changed the venue for May Daze, the vision and formula that they started with in 2008 will remain the same.
"When we launched three years ago, we knew that the concept and formula that Stephen and I developed would have worked, but for our third year, we have to try to outdo the previous years, so this May we're taking Appleton May Daze to the movies," said Harris.
One thing that also hasn't changed is the title sponsor, as Appleton comes back on board with the event for its third year. "May Daze is an event that we have seen grow and an event that we have grown with, and we are very proud to be a part of the event for the third successive year" says Brand Manager David Walton. "The best of Appleton is always represented at the event, and this year we promise even better," he continued.
The event, which will take place every Friday in May, will see something special this year - the event will extend to what the promoters are calling 'May 35th'.
frolic and fun
"There are only four Fridays in May this year, and our patrons have been used to five nights of frolic and fun. Why should the calendar stop us? So we're renaming June 4th and calling it May 35th, which will be the grande finale of Appleton May Daze 2010," Harris said.
More than 2,500 people at a time crammed into the space at Akbar last year to enjoy the selections of popular disc jockeys. At the end of the event series last year, the promoters knew that it was time to move to a bigger, more spacious venue.
The promoters are encouraging patrons to place orders for the Appleton May Daze VIP access card, which is a one-time cost of $4,000 that includes weekly access for the cardholder and a guest, VIP parking, complimentary drinks on entry and discounts at Appleton May Daze partner stores in Kingston and Portmore.
Entry to the event on a weekly basis will be $800 with ladies entering free before 11 p.m. each night.
"Most promoters talk about value for money, or the new phrase is 'recession-proof price'. You can't get a better deal than what we're providing, and everyone who has ever been to a May Daze knows that they get more than what they pay for ... we provide a party experience that defines value for money," says Harris.
