Gyptian scores hit with Crime Stop Riddim

Reggae music still has the power to inspire people through its messages of spirituality, social consciousness and upliftment. It is one of the few remaining art forms that attacks the reigning social order and status quo by dealing with topics that hit close to home for the majority of people such as crime, corruption and violence.

Reggae's power has never been more evident than on the hit Crime Stop riddim by super-talented producer Adrian Hanson of Donsome Records where several different artistes produce stirring social commentary that tackles subjects such as poverty, crime, violence and the spiritual bankruptcy afflicting Jamaica.

Adrian Hanson, chief executive officer of the US-based Donsome Records, has scored a major international hit record with Gyptian's Mama Bawl song on the Crime Stop riddim.

"Well this Crime Stop riddim is one of the biggest riddims for 2010. I've been able to get it on every radio station and online magazine in Europe and all over the world, especially on satellite radio. If you just go to youtube.com, you will see what I'm talking about, it's getting major buzz, it is surprising and incredible," he said.

ImageThe singles on the Crime Stop riddim include Influential's 'The Summary', reggae's incendiary new kid on the block, I Octane chants down Babylon with Lost Our Way, and the super-talented I Wayne chimes in with 'Famine and Drought'.

"I would say that Mama Bawl by Gyptian is the biggest song so far. The Mama Bawl track has a video that has been doing well all over the world. The video was premiered on ER and after that it has been featured on many online magazine like The Fader Magazine , United Reggae Magazine , and sites like dancehall.mobi , hot97svg, and one876entertainment.com," he said.

Donsome said that the buzz is building on the other singles such as Famine and Drought by I-Wayne and Lost Our Way by I-Octane.

"Those songs are going very good because the famine and drought situation a gwaan a way in Jamaica and all over the world right now and a it I-Wayne a sing about. I Octane a tell we how much the people dem lost dem way thats way we have so much killing in Jamaica and the world," he said.

Hanson also singled out new artiste Influential whose song dubbed The Summary is a "summation of all the corruption that is going on...he is aking when will it end".

"All these things point to the social conditions and challenges facing the people of Jamaica hence the name, Crime Stop riddim," he said.

Hanson said that the buzz generated by the singles, especially Gyptian's breakout hit which is popping up on playlists on major urban radio stations, has caused a spike in the sales of the riddim on downloadable sites.

"The sales have been tremendous, this is one of my biggest sellers to date," he said.

Hanson is now in the studios working on a new project which will be release this Summer.

"The work continues and the hits will keep coming," he said.

You can bet your house on it.
